Last Days in Scotland

21 June 2023 – Campbeltown, Scotland

On Monday, we sadly said goodbye to Gerald and successfully left Ardrossan! It was a bit of a stressful journey, as we were sailing close-hauled in 20 kts of wind and didn’t really know how the boat worked yet, but nearly everything went smoothly except for a saggy main sail.

Getting ready to go – Ardrossan, Scotland

Our first destination was Brodick, a small town where we got a visitor’s mooring. The next morning, my dad, Jonas, and I went for a walk in town while my mom took the ferry back to Ardrossan because we had forgotten the dinghy engine harness on our old boat, Blue Hour. My dad, Jonas, Sirius, and I went for a beautiful walk on a boardwalk around the coast, then got a delicious Scottish breakfast.

The trip to Campbeltown the next day was much calmer due to the fact that there was no wind. We motored for most of the day before testing out the anchor for the first time once we got into port (it worked very well). We walked around a bit then made it home just before it rained.

Today is our last day in Scotland, as we will be sailing to Northern Ireland this afternoon.
