Redes and Muxía

11 September 2023 – Muxía, Spain

Redes is my favourite village that we have been to so far on this trip, maybe ever. It is quite small; there are a cluster of beautiful stone houses by the harbour and a few restaurants and that is it. Some of the houses are painted or trimmed with blue and many of them have planters hanging from the windows. The streets are narrow and lead down to the bay.

If you keep walking, there are some trails along rural streets and paths through the forest. We went on a long hike and ended up on the beach of the next town, then walked back to Redes and went out for lunch.

Jonas put up the hammock and did school lying in it, then I sat in it and read while he and my mom went paddle boarding around the harbour.

After spending a few more days in Redes than we had originally intended, we sailed to Muxía. We had originally been hoping that we could stop at a little uninhabited island which looked beautiful but the anchorage wasn’t protected enough from the waves. Muxía is also very nice and it was a calm day on the ocean so we didn’t mind missing it too much. There was a festival going on when we took the dinghy to town, although we’re still not sure what it was for. There were marching bands walking through the streets and many stalls selling food, clothes, and jewelry. After walking to the top of the hill and getting a good view of the ocean, we headed back down and got some churros from a stall.

In the afternoon, Jonas and my mom paddle boarded to the beach and I sat in the hammock again and read.
